Is it really possible to accidentally start a glove company?

That is what ended up happening after calling in a favor with one of the world’s top ball glove factories. My daughter had just joined a new travel softball team, and I wanted to get her a unique glove that showed how excited she was to make this switch. After 25+ years of leading product categories for a few top baseball/softball brands, I was fortunate enough to have built many good relationships and product design know-how.

I have designed many gloves for professional and collegiate players and large programs. This mostly involved embroidering their name on the thumb while all the other logos belonged to my employer at the time. Not having a brand to promote on my daughter’s glove, I took that key real estate and used it for her team’s logos and personalization touches that she liked.  True customization that elevated her and her team’s brands.

We never realize how accustomed our eyes are to seeing stock gloves with the usual-suspect brands until a fully customized glove hits the field. Teammates, opponents, and others around the park immediately took notice of my daughter’s glove and started to ask about it. That is when this accident became a reality.
